Assessment of mirror movements in children and adolescents with unilateral cerebral palsy: reliability of the Woods and Teuber scale

Aim To investigate the inter- and intrarater reliability of Woods Teuber scale to detect mirror movements in children adolescents with unilateral cerebral palsy (CP). Method A convenience sample CP (n=68; 31 males, 37 females; mean age 12y 2mo, SD 3y 6mo) Manual Ability Classification levels I III was recruited from Norway, Australia, Belgium. Three therapists scored according three video-recorded tasks at two separate time points. two-way, mixed model regression used calculate intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) reflecting overall reliability. In addition, ICCs for each hand task were calculated separately. Results The interrater ICC 0.90 corresponding 0.92. ranged 0.86 0.92 0.63 0.89. Interpretation shows excellent scoring CP. assessment is easy administer no need specific equipment can be determined short video recordings, making it a feasible instrument research clinical practice.
